Honeybadger for Next.js now supports Turbopack

Honeybadger's Next.js integration gives you error tracking for your whole app, including both the server and the browser. Each error comes with full context and links to the request that caused it, so you can go straight from an alert to the line of code that broke.

Version 6 of @honeybadger-io/nextjs adds support for Turbopack, the default bundler in Next.js 16. It also uses Next.js's built-in instrumentation hooks, so you have less to configure and more of your app is covered.

What's new

  • Turbopack and webpack support. Error reporting and source map uploads work the same with both.
  • Automatic server error reporting. Covers Server Components, Route Handlers, Server Actions, middleware, and Pages Router API routes, with no wrapper code.
  • The original error, even in production. Next.js hides server error messages from the browser in production. Honeybadger still gets the original error.
  • Source maps handled for you. Maps upload after every production build, and browser maps are removed afterward so your source code isn't served publicly.
  • Errors linked to Insights. When you set up Insights request events, each server error carries the same request ID as its request in Insights, so you can see everything else that happened during that request.

See the Next.js integration guide to get started, or the upgrade guide if you're on version 5. Version 6 is a breaking change and requires Next.js 15.4+, Node.js 20.9+, and the Node.js runtime.
