Switching authenticator apps previously required first disabling 2FA and setting it up again from scratch, leaving your account briefly unprotected. Now you can configure a new authenticator app directly.

Here's how to change your authenticator app:

1. Go to **[User settings](https://docs.honeybadger.io/guides/user-settings/) → Authentication**
2. Click **Edit** next to your two-factor authentication settings
3. Enter a code from your **current** authenticator app to verify your identity
4. Scan the new QR code with your new authenticator app
5. Enter a code from the **new** app to confirm

Your old authenticator will stop working as soon as you verify the new one, keeping your account protected throughout the process. We also send an email confirmation whenever your 2FA method changes, and automatically log out previous sessions.
